Lavender by Sharon Davis

Lavender, apparently also known as spikenard in ancient texts, is a hardy garden herb popular for its lilac-coloured flowers and fragrant scent. A member of the mint family of plants, there are at least 39 varieties of Lavendula. Lavender essential oil, distilled mostly from lavender flowers, is best known for its soothing and calming effect. Scientific studies have found that it helps alleviate stress and anxiety. Lavender can help reduce blood pressure and improve sleep quality.
